Planting Tips

Plant rhizomes with the top surface exposed or barely covered by soil in fertile, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Full sun and excellent drainage are essential.

Care Tips

Water regularly during spring growth and bloom; reduce after flowering as bearded iris prefer drier summer conditions. Remove spent flower stalks after blooming. Keep foliage through summer- it fuels next year's bloom. Divide clumps every 3–4 years in mid-to-late summer when the rhizomes become crowded and bloom declines. Fertilize lightly in early spring and again after flowering. Watch for iris borer and bacterial soft rot- good sanitation and proper planting depth help prevent both.
