Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; performs best with steady moisture in partial to full shade. Prune out any oldest or winter-damaged stems at the base in early spring to keep the plant fresh and vigorous. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. A particularly compact, well-behaved leucothoe that stays tidy with minimal pruning. The arching, evergreen foliage takes on warm reddish tones in winter. Largely pest-free.
