Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) enriched with organic matter. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; performs best with steady moisture in partial to full shade. Prune out any oldest or winter-damaged stems at the base in early spring to keep the plant fresh and vigorous. Avoid heavy shearing- the arching form is a key ornamental quality. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. The foliage emerges in vivid flame-orange and red tones in spring, maturing to green, then returning to warm tones in fall and winter. Largely pest-free.
