Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, average soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This native loosestrife thrives in moist conditions and is not to be confused with the invasive purple loosestrife.

Care Tips

Water consistently and generously- lance-leaved loosestrife is a native wetland plant that thrives in moist to wet conditions. It spreads modestly by rhizomes to form naturalistic colonies. Divide in spring to control spread if needed. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. No fertilization generally needed. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The vivid yellow flower spikes in early summer are bright and cheerful, and the plant provides valuable habitat for native wildlife. An excellent plant for rain gardens and pond edges.
