Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Adaptable to a wide range of soils including clay and dry conditions.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flowers for continued bloom. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 2–3 years in spring. Monitor for powdery mildew- good air circulation helps. Wild bergamot spreads modestly by rhizomes- divide to control if needed. The lavender-pink flowers are outstanding for native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds over a long season. A highly valuable native perennial for pollinators.
