Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This native grass thrives in lean, dry conditions and is highly adaptable.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back to a few inches in early spring before new growth emerges- do not cut back in fall, as the spectacular pink-purple flower cloud in fall is one of the most ornamental effects of any native grass. No fertilization needed. Largely pest-free. The extraordinary, airy mass of pink-purple flowers in early fall is a showstopper in the landscape and one of the finest moments in the ornamental grass calendar.
