Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 18–24 inches apart. This compact weigela works beautifully in borders, containers, and as an edging plant. It adapts to average, well-drained soils without any special soil preparation. Water thoroughly at planting and apply a light mulch. Keep consistently watered through the first growing season.

Care Tips

Prune right after flowering in late spring or early summer — weigela blooms on old wood, so pruning at the wrong time removes next year's flower buds. A light trim to shape the plant is all that's needed. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced fertilizer. The variegated foliage with purple tones provides attractive color all season long, even when not in bloom.
