Gulf Stream Heavenly Bamboo

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained, acidic soil in partial shade, spacing 3–4 feet apart. Gulf Stream is a compact nandina with excellent multi-season foliage color — green in spring and summer, turning brilliant orange-red to red in fall and winter. It adapts to a range of conditions. Dig the planting hole to the same depth as the root ball, water well, and mulch generously.

Minimal pruning is needed. Remove the oldest canes to the base in early spring if the plant becomes overcrowded. Gulf Stream does not flower or fruit as prolifically as standard nandina, so it poses less invasive risk. Keep soil consistently moist. The outstanding fall and winter foliage color is the primary ornamental feature. No regular fertilizing needed. An excellent, refined compact nandina for foundation plantings and mixed borders.
