Royal Wedding Poppy

Plant in spring once soil has warmed, spacing 12–18 inches apart in well-drained, fertile soil. Royal Wedding is an oriental poppy with large, pure white flowers with contrasting dark centers and a refined, elegant character. Oriental poppies prefer cool weather and bloom in late spring to early summer. Incorporate compost into the planting area and water well.

Oriental poppies go dormant in summer heat — this is normal. The foliage dies back completely after flowering. Plant alongside summer-blooming companions that will fill the gap during dormancy. Do not cut back until foliage is completely yellow. Divide every four to five years in fall when dormant. All parts are toxic. The large, white flowers with dark centers are elegant and striking in the late spring garden. Excellent for cutting.
