Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean conditions and good drainage produce the best, longest-lived plants.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage a second flush of bloom. Cut back to the basal foliage rosette in late fall. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. Husker Red is notable for its stunning deep burgundy-red foliage that persists through the entire season, providing outstanding color contrast even when the plant is not in bloom. The white flowers complement the dark foliage beautifully. An award-winning native selection.
