Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Adaptable to clay, sandy, and poor soils. Space 5–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant and very adaptable. Prune out one-third of the oldest canes at the base in early spring to encourage vigorous new growth with the most vivid foliage color. Fertilize lightly in spring if desired. The foliage shifts through remarkable color changes through the season- vivid red in spring, green in summer, and turning again in fall. A truly dynamic, multi-season foliage shrub. Largely pest- and disease-free.
