Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly.

Care Tips

Water consistently throughout the growing season. Unlike the straight species, Miss Manners is a well-behaved selection that does not spread aggressively by runners- it stays in a tidy clump. Deadhead spent flower spikes to tidy the planting. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free. The spikes of white flowers in late summer are attractive to bees and butterflies. The individual flowers can be repositioned on the spike and will hold their new position- hence the common name.
