Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly after planting; once established it is quite drought tolerant. To maintain a compact, dense form and slow growth, pinch or snap off half of each new candle of growth in spring before the needles fully expand- this traditional pruning technique keeps mugo pines tidy and dense. Do not shear with hedge clippers. Fertilize lightly in spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Largely pest- and disease-free. A tough, adaptable, slow-growing evergreen for year-round interest.
