Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 15–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Water consistently throughout the season. Jacob's ladder prefers reliably moist, cool conditions in partial shade. In hot climates the plant may go semi-dormant in summer — cut back tired foliage and it typically re-flushes in fall. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Fertilize lightly in spring. Heaven Scent is selected specifically for its exceptional fragrance — the flowers have a notably sweet, pleasing scent that is stronger than most other Jacob's ladder varieties. The ladder-like, pinnate foliage is attractive all season. The vivid blue-violet flowers are outstanding. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
