Variegated foliage features green leaves with cream margins that turn pink in cool weather. Clusters of pale blue flowers appear in spring, but the colorful leaves are the main attraction.

Plant Polemonium 'Stairway to Heaven' in well-drained, fertile soil with partial to full shade. Space plants about 12-18 inches apart. Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooms and cut back foliage after flowering to promote fresh growth. Protect from harsh afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch. Divide clumps every 3-4 years in early spring or fall to maintain vigor.
