Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Dig a wide, shallow hole. Space 5–6 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently, especially during the first season and summer dry spells. Rhododendrons have shallow, fibrous roots that need steady moisture and cool soil. Deadhead spent flower trusses after blooming by snapping them off carefully to improve next year's bloom. Prune lightly after flowering if shaping is needed. Fertilize in spring with an acid rhododendron fertilizer. Largely pest-free when sited correctly with good drainage and acidic soil.
