Pairs well with

Campfire Rose opens yellow flowers washed and edged with red, and the mix shifts as the flowers age and as nights cool, so a plant carries several stages at once. Rosa 'CA 29' grows 3 to 4 feet tall and wide in full sun, hardy from Zone 3 through Zone 7.

Bloom is continuous from early summer to frost, and the color runs deeper and more saturated in the cooler weather of late season.

Cold hardiness is where this one separates itself. Campfire came out of the Canadian Artists breeding program in Manitoba, developed for prairie winters, and it survives to Zone 3, further north than almost any repeat-blooming rose will go.

Disease resistance is high, so the glossy foliage holds through humid summers with no spray program. Give it full sun and well-drained soil, and cut back by about a third in early spring. Shipped on its own roots.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first season; established plants are more adaptable. No deadheading required for continuous bloom. Prune back by one-third in early spring. Fertilize with a balanced rose fertilizer in spring and midsummer. Good disease resistance. Monitor for black spot and aphids. The flowers open in vivid warm tones- blending orange, coral, and red- that shift in color as they age, giving the plant a particularly dynamic, multi-toned appearance through the season.
