Pairs well with

Scarlet Drift® Rose is the true red in the Drift line, a saturated scarlet that holds its color rather than fading toward pink as the flowers age. Rosa 'MEIdelvega' grows about 18 inches tall and spreads 30 inches in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 11.

Bloom is continuous from mid-spring to the first hard freeze, and the flowers clean off on their own without deadheading.

Drift roses are a cross between full-size groundcover roses and miniature roses, bred to stay low and spread wide while blooming continuously. They were developed to fill the awkward spots: hillsides, narrow strips along a walk, the front edge of a bed, containers. All of them are self-cleaning, disease resistant, and need no deadheading.

This is one of the newer Drift introductions, and the habit is low and mounding with glossy dark foliage that fills to the ground. Disease resistance is high, so the foliage stays clean through humid summers with no spray program. Cut back by about a third in late winter. Shipped on its own roots.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Dig the hole twice as wide as the root ball and mix in some compost. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep to conserve moisture. Make sure the planting site has good air circulation to help prevent disease.

Care Tips

This rose is highly disease resistant and requires very little care. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering, or allow hips to form in fall for ornamental interest. Fertilize in early spring with a rose fertilizer. Prune lightly in early spring to remove dead wood and shape the plant. Water during dry spells, especially in summer heat.
