Chameleon Little Bluestem

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Little bluestem thrives in lean conditions- avoid rich or consistently wet soils.

Water regularly the first season; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back to 4–6 inches in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Do not cut back in fall- the colorful foliage and seed heads provide outstanding winter interest. Divide every 3–5 years in spring. No fertilization needed. This selection is notable for its exceptional, multi-toned foliage that shifts from blue-green in summer to vivid orange, red, and purple in fall. Largely pest-free.
