Seaside Speedwell

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 12–18 inches apart in well-drained soil. Speedwell adapts well to a range of garden conditions but performs best with good drainage. Water regularly for the first few weeks after planting, then reduce as the plant establishes. It is quite drought tolerant once settled in and does well in hot, sunny spots.

Cut plants back after the main bloom flush to remove spent flower spikes and encourage fresh foliage and a possible second bloom. Speedwell spreads gradually and can be divided every few years to propagate or control spread. No heavy fertilizing is needed. A reliable, easy-care plant for sunny borders, rock gardens, and dry slopes that provides attractive spiky blue flowers over a long season.
