Autumn Moor Grass

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained to moist soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Autumn moor grass (Sesleria) is a fine-textured, cool-season grass that produces attractive, blue-green foliage and early-season flower spikes. It adapts to a range of conditions including clay and partial shade — more adaptable than many ornamental grasses. No special soil preparation needed.

Cut plants back to 4–6 inches in late winter before the early spring growth begins. Autumn moor grass is a cool-season grass that looks its best in spring and fall, potentially going somewhat dormant in summer heat. It handles partial shade better than most ornamental grasses. No fertilizing needed in average soils. An excellent, adaptable grass for mixed borders, slopes, and partially shaded settings where other ornamental grasses would struggle.
