Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–5.5). Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting- sheep laurel prefers reliably moist, acidic conditions. Little pruning is needed. Fertilize lightly in spring with an acid fertilizer. Sheep laurel is a beautiful, underused native shrublet with strikingly ornamental, bright rose-pink to magenta flowers in late spring- unusually vivid for a native ericaceous plant. The narrow, evergreen leaves provide year-round interest. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. An excellent native companion for blueberries and other acid-loving plants.
