Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 5–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently throughout the growing season. Prune lightly immediately after flowering. Fertilize in spring with an acid azalea fertilizer. The Southern Pinxter azalea produces spectacular, large, fragrant, bright pink to deep rose flowers before the leaves fully emerge- a stunning late spring display. This native deciduous azalea is more heat-tolerant than northern types and thrives in the mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States. Outstanding fall foliage color. Largely pest-free in acidic, moist, organic soil.
