Sweet Emotion Blaze™ Hardy Abelia

Plant in spring or fall, spacing 3–4 feet apart in well-drained soil. This abelia is adaptable to a range of soil types and conditions. Water well at planting and apply a light mulch. Regular watering through the first growing season helps the plant establish a strong root system.

In early spring, selectively prune out a few of the oldest stems to the base to keep the plant vigorous and maintain good airflow. Avoid shearing into a formal hedge shape, which diminishes the plant's natural graceful habit. Once established, it requires very little water or fertilizer. The bronzy new foliage and persistent colorful calyxes add interest well beyond the bloom period.
