Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained to moist soil, spacing 3–4 feet apart. Magical Avalanche is a snowberry with an exceptionally heavy crop of large, pure white berries that persist through fall and winter — one of the most striking white-berried shrubs available. It adapts to a range of conditions. Dig the planting hole to the depth of the root ball and water well. Mulch lightly.

Care Tips

Prune in early spring to remove dead wood and shape lightly. Snowberry spreads by suckers — remove them to maintain a tidy specimen, or allow them to naturalize. The large, white berries are the primary ornamental feature — dramatically ornamental against fall and winter foliage. Birds eat the berries through winter. No regular fertilizing needed. An excellent, easy-care native shrub for fall and winter interest.
