Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring in acidic, moist, well-drained soil with afternoon shade protection. Tiddlywinks is a compact mountain laurel that works beautifully in smaller gardens and shaded foundation plantings where larger laurels would be too big. Amend soil with peat or acidic compost if needed. Set the root ball at or just above grade and mulch 3–4 inches deep. Water thoroughly at planting.

Care Tips

Deadhead after the flowers fade by snapping off spent clusters just above the new growth buds — this keeps the plant tidy and directs energy toward developing next year's flower buds. Apply an acid-formulated fertilizer once in early spring. Keep soil consistently moist throughout the growing season. Replenish mulch annually. A refined, manageable mountain laurel for smaller shaded spaces.
