Planting Tips

Plant in average, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought. Deadhead or shear back spent flower spikes to encourage continued bloom. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The vivid, upright spikes of intense blue-violet flowers are produced over a long season and are excellent for pollinators, particularly bumblebees. A reliable, carefree front-of-border perennial.
