Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Adaptable to clay and a wide range of soil conditions. Space 6–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates drought and clay soil well. Little pruning is needed- remove any dead or crossing branches in early spring. If shaping is needed, prune immediately after flowering. Fertilize lightly in spring. The white flower clusters in spring, attractive berries in fall that birds love, and exceptional red fall foliage color make this a superb four-season native shrub. Largely pest- and disease-free.
