Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil, spacing 8–10 feet apart. European snowball viburnum produces spectacular, perfectly round, sterile white flower balls in late spring — one of the most showy spring-flowering shrubs. It adapts to average garden conditions without special preparation. Dig a generous planting hole, amend with compost, and water well. Mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Prune right after flowering to maintain shape and control size. European snowball does not produce berries due to its sterile flowers, but the extraordinary white ball-shaped blooms in late spring compensate fully. The foliage may develop powdery mildew in late summer — choose a site with good air circulation. Fertilize in spring. A spectacular, classic flowering shrub for prominent positions in the landscape.
